On 1999, Mama Yosepha Alomang achieved Yap Thiam Hien Award on Papua women recognition and human rights at Timika.
Jonga’s name start smell good on 2000-2007 while he on duty at Waris, Keerom Regent. This is border place between Papua and Papua Niugini. At Waris whi
ch stamp as Papua Independence Military Base made himself is busied with civilian problem such as shot by Indonesian Army.
Eventually, local civilian become shot victims by military. John who had East Indonesia blood i
s a brave man when shouted about military cruelty.
No wonder, it made him is hated by someone on local military. One day on 2007, he report to Papua Governor Barnabas Suebu about intimidation on civilian by military. His reports made military lose one’s cool.
Therefore, he is claimed would be burry lives 700 meters underground. Papua border which far from control made his live is on danger at anytime. But, Jonga is not moved.
His principal, as catholic priest, he has sacred vocation to stick up for human rights, whatever its risk. Eventually, evils dislike his sacred
vocation. John Jonga still stamped as Papua Independence Priest who help Papuan separatist.
But, his dedication that not depend on skin color and ideology made Jonga is a bigwig who believed by Keerom civilian.
