Kelly Kwalik, Leader of Papian Independence Army Is Dead

Indonesian Police success to kill Kelly Kwalik, Wednesday (16/12) in the morning about 03.00 am. The oldman died when police arround his place at Gorong-Gorong Timika Papua.
Spokesman of Papua Police Department, Agus Rianto said police shooted Kelly Kwalik on his up-foot. Kelly died when doctor at Kuala Kencana Hospital, Timika help him.
“Kelly tried to shoot us using revolver, so my officer shooted him first,” Agus said.
The bullet reach Kelly’s foot. Inside home, there is five persons whose Kelly’s family. They are Jeep Murib (24 th), Noni Senawarme (35 th), Martinus Katarame (21 th), Yosep Kwantik (60 th) and Yorni Murib (10).
Criminal Director of Papua Police Department, Pietrus Waine said police have been examining witness at Timika. About the corpse, he said police would be do a DNA test and anatomy checking at Bhayangkara Hospital, Jayapura.
This night, many officers arround the hospital to prevent people who have bad suggestion.


Indonesian Parliamentary Met Papua Political Prisoner

Last minutes ago, i received short message from my friend. He told me that Leader of Third Commission of Indonesian Parliamentary has met Papua Political prisoners at Abepura Prison, Jayapura Papua. Dr Benny K Harman SH.MHum has been met Buchtar Tabuni and Sebby Sembom and friend today (Dec 9th)on 17.30. Meeting last in Tapol 4 Room where Sebby and Yance Mote live on. “Facing is fun and it is a meaningfull discussion to protect human rights for Papuan,” Sebby said.

Repatrians Demand Government for Residence Guarantee

Hundreds repatrians from Papua New Guinea (PNG) who has life for six days at Jayapura Papua, asked for residence and livelihood from Indonesian Government. Local and central government right know has not provide their needs.
Hein Fere (62), said government should not see all of repatrians as golden boy or stepchild. “Just treat us like as usual citizens. Please humanize us. We just ask for help. We need a normal house for protected as from rain and sun,” Hein said to Governor Papua, Barnabas Suebu.
He said himself and his family as long as life at PNG could life normally and not poor. So he and repatrians hope could life normally at Jayapura.

Clearing did not Give Prosperity to Villages
Forest clearing for any estate investment or any wood processing at Papua had been giving no prosperity for villages. The activities impact most social degradations and culture of Papuan. The real impact is villages’ people difficult to get food, traditional medicine because their forest used for clearing.
This case discussed while researcher from Papua NGO Forum presented their research on The First Papua Forest Congress at Jayapura. The area is seven big cultural such as Mamta, Ha Anim, Momberai, Mee Pago, and Saireri. In administrative this area is Merauke, Boven Digul, Mappi, Teluk Bintuni, Teluk Wondama, Manokwari, Nabire, Dogiyai, Biak Numfor, Waropen, Mamberamo, Sarmi, Keerom, and Jayapura.
Ambrosius Degey, researcher for Mee Pago (Nabire area) presented Mee Tribes at Sukikai Cultural Area said land as Makikouko nimunetai amai. Its mean, land is mother who preserves peoples. ”Land or forest is our mom who giving food and traditional medicine for us. Land also our identity and our proud,” he said.
Degey explained this cultural wise started to move while village people look the forest/land as economic area. Impact, social conflict and people loosed tribe identity.
The coming of many wood company that offer big money force people hand offering their land for cutting. Unhappily, Degey said, people can not manage their money when chance their traditional habit to modern life.
Pastor Jhon Jonga, researcher at Mamta or Keerom areas said the same reports. He explained transmigration project and palm forestry that entering Keerom at 1985-1986 has made indigenous people move from their culture land.
Opening forest for Oil Palm Farming made people loose their sago, traditional food and animal to eat. Keerom Regent is 936.500 hectare that 9.300 hectares is Oil Palm farm.
“For 25 years Oil Palm management at Keerom, no one indigenous people got their right. Oil palm monopoly at the regent made farmer did not get money. About 95 percent areas is contracted their land to other people,” Jhon Jonga said.
People worry about oil palm also said by researcher Jago Bukit. His researches located on cultural area Ha Anim, Merauke Regent’s area. Jago said Sinar Mas Group, big company in Indonesia would invested on oil palm farming which an area 176.000 hectare at Edera District, Mappi by its sister company.
Jago Bukit explained owner of land at Edera, Auwyu Tribe, had been experienced on rubber plantation. Deutch showed the people long time ago. About oil palm, Auwyu Tribe had been learnt from Jair District at Boven Digoel. Jair ever accepted offering PT Tunas Sawaerma Korindo Group. This project did not give prosperous to people.


Repatriation, 138 Citizens at PNG Back To Indonesia

After 30 years living for Papua-Indonesia and placed at Papua New Guinea, more a half people got repatriation and back to motherland. Number of 138 citizens of PNG, Thursday (19/11), is transported by Indonesian Air force Plane, Hercules from Wewak PNG to Jayapura, to start repatriation. They are claiming relief back to Indonesia.

“I miss my family. There are high criminality at PNG and situation at Papua much better than I leaved last 1979,” Hein Fere (62), a repatriation person who also brought his wife, Yohana Hamadi (60) and four grandson. His five kids also would be joined to repatriation on 2010 after sold their land and house at PNG.

The repatriation persons also include children of Papuan who born and live at PNG. They choose to go to Indonesia because want to get a good education. More a half of them come from around of Port Numbay such as Sentani, Jayapura City, Sarmi, and Keerom.

Number of 138 repatriation person arrived at Sentani using Hercules A1320, piloted by Colonel Lieutenant (Pilot) Purwoko. First flight brought 65 people and then in the afternoon 73 person arrived. Now they are stayed at Jayapura for three or five days.

Functionary of Domestics Affair Department, Sutrisno, said the repatriation persons would be sent to their regency or city which they are come from. “After verified on their destiny, regent would pick and carry them to their homeland,” he said.

About job and place to live, Sutrisno said that is regent’s right and authority. He hopes repatriation persons could be one to their big families at Papua and live normally as Indonesian citizen.

Functionary of Foreign Affair Department, Teguh Wardoyo said repatriation would be continued for future. “A half people would be joined at repatriation on next. They should sell their land, house, and manage their job at PNG,” Teguh said.

As long leave at PNG, he said, these repatriation persons did not live normally. He explained about persons who live at mile 6 and mile 8 at Port Moresby, capital of PNG, live below poverty line.
